Two Seattle bands brought their tour to the Independent on Tuesday. Hibou – Peter Michel’s personal project post-Craft Spells – opened the show with their “vibed-out pop,” per Peter himself. Their self-titled album came out in September 2015 on Barsuk Records. Hey Marseilles followed with a different kind of pop – the orchestral kind. Singer Matt Bishop’s voice is just as perfect live as recorded. The band released their self-titled third album about six weeks ago, and are in the home stretch of the seven-week release tour. A large contingent of dedicated fans were present, including some from Seattle, as well as a group celebrating the memory of their grandmother, whose favorite band was Hey Marseilles.
