TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 7/18/19 Edition

July 18. 2019 | By Wayne Jessup

Currently owning the turntable real estate here at the Nest is LA’s Lunch Lady, a winning post-punk collaboration of Juan from Abe Vigoda/Roses and Rachel from Heller Keller. “Windows” is off their debut LP Angel, coming out 8/23 via Upset The Rhythm. The dust has barely settled from Julia Shapiro’s solo LP Perfect Version, and we are blessed with the return of Chastity Belt. Their latest is self-titled and due out 9/20 on Hardly Art. “Ann’s Jam” shows off the band’s continued growth and refinement.

Norwegian indie duo Ask Carol follow up their 2018 s/t EP with a new single, “Smiling All Day Long”. Putting the spotlight back on DC, one of the more intriguing things we’ve run across lately is Knife Wife. “Dogs” is from the trio’s debut LP Family Party, released last week on Sister Polygon. Final entry this week takes us to London. Nick Keech and Kaoru Sato are Easterhead, and they bless us with “Move On”, from their most recent, The Branches.
