Blitzen Trapper @ Regency, SF 11/5/13

If we didn’t know any better, we would probably assume Blitzen Trapper to be a band from the darkest depths of the Appalachians rather than the hipster mecca of Portland, Oregon. The band was in San Francisco supporting their recently-released seventh studio album (appropriately titled VII), blessing an intimate crowd at the Regency Ballroom with even more intricately composed, folky narratives. Following a few technical difficulties at the beginning of their set, vocalist Eric Earley led the band through a mixture of harmony-heavy Americana and explosive guitar jams – proving that no matter your cup o’ tea, Blitzen Trapper have a little something for everyone.
