High School Reunion: Valerie Veteto (2004-2008)

Not that long ago I was the kid in high school showing up with the sleepiest raccoon eyes. I spent most nights in a never-ending search for the unloved bands just poking their way into Internet existence, and then bombarding my friends with my findings. Back then my money/weekend nights were monopolized by small venues like The Underground and The Boardwalk [suburbs of Sacramento], going to any live show that wasn’t 18+. My stereo was clogged with anything and everything, from Queen to Porcupine Tree to Damien Rice, but it was in the folk/indie scene that I burrowed into. Though it really wasn’t that long ago, take a dip into the heart of the ’00s when MTV still played music videos for the diehard insomniacs.

TV on the Radio – Wolf Like Me

The Shins – Kissing The Lipless

Rocky Votolato – Suicide Medicine

Pixies – Hey

Motion City Soundtrack – LGFUAD

Death Cab for Cutie – We Looked Like Giants

The Dandy Warhols – Bohemian Like You

Coheed & Cambria – A Favor House Atlantic

Arctic Monkeys – I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor

Angus & Julia Stone – Just A Boy

Andrew Jackson Jihad – People II: The Reckoning

Andrew Bird - A Nervous Tic Motion of the Head to the Left

Elliott Smith – Between The Bars

Third Eye Blind – Motorcycle Drive-By
