TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 6/10/2021 Edition

June 10. 2021 | By Wayne Jessup

Welcome back to another week of Tracks, which we shall dub the ‘Fasten Your Seatbelts’ episode. Kicking things off, it’s “Zami”, the riveting new single from Moor Mother, freshly signed to Anti- Records. Through a steady stream of collaborations and her own work, including 2019’s Analog Fluids of Sonic Black Holes, standing still would not seem to be in her vocabulary.

Kris Esfandiari is King Woman and “Morning Star” is the first single from the upcoming Celestial Blues, the long-awaited follow up to 2017’s Created in the Image of Suffering. It comes out 7/30 on Relapse Records. Release shows are at the Lodge Room, LA 7/30 + 31, and also look out for three dates at the Starline Social Club in Oakland this October.

Black Midi duck the second album blues by simply steamrollering the whole concept on their new LP Cavalcade, out now on Rough Trade. Our track of choice is their latest single “Chondromalacia Patella”.

Closing out this week, every day we’re grateful that Chelsea Wolfe walks among us, and particularly so at the moment. “Diana”, the latest single, is her contribution to the Dark Nights: Death Metal Soundtrack, forthcoming on Loma Vista.
