Starting a video in a church is like flashing a giant neon sign saying “Warning: Religious Imagery Ahead.” DWNTWN‘s “Transition” video does just that, following Jamie Lefler and Robert Cepeda from a church to a field (with a cross) to a bar (with a bunch of Budweiser signs) to the beach. The final scenes involve painting a cross on Jamie’s forehead and jumping head first into the ocean. While I’m still musing over their stint in the bar, the other spiritual clues are easier to figure: symbols of mourning and rebirth make a good deal of sense for a song about a failed relationship. Thankfully, the band employs them beautifully in this sunny, self-directed video.
