TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 4/29/2021 Edition

April 29. 2021 | By Wayne Jessup

Welcome back to a positively packed Tracks. This week kicks off with Bachelor, the summit meeting of Jay Som (Melina Duterte) and Palehound (Ellen Kempner), plus freshly recruited Zoe Brecher (Hushpuppy). “Sick Of Spiraling” is the third single from their debut LP Doomin’ Sun, out 5.28 on Polyvinyl. Mark your calendars for September, when they’ll be picking up some dates with Lucy Dacus.

Neptunes Core is a Chicago quartet comprised of two sets of sisters. “Turning Red” is their latest single, following up last year’s Can’t Have It All. Returning to the stage in May, the band has already sold out a socially-distanced show at the City Winery in Chicago, with capacity subsequently being increased, and a few more tickets available, for now…

LA’s Bizou is up next with “Tragic Lover”, the title track of their debut full-length, out 6/4 on Moonboot Records. It’s the follow up to last year’s Nest favorite, the stilllifeburning EP.

Brooklyn quartet Pom Pom Squad finish us up with “Head Cheerleader” from their forthcoming debut LP Death Of A Cheerleader, due out 6/25 on City Slang. Fronted by Mia Berrin with production by Sarah Tudzin (Illuminati Hotties) and a vocal assist on the single from Tegan, it’s an LP we’re eagerly awaiting.
