PICTURE THIS: Rubblebucket @ Fillmore, SF 2/9/13

February 12. 2013 | By Chandler Elena

The annual San Franciscan festivity brought together fans of Brooklyn art-poppers Rubblebucket and local late-night concertgoers for a nearly four hour dancing extravaganza. From the array of hearts projected on the ruby curtains to the seemingly glowing lavender drinks scattered upon the edge of the stage, the vibrant atmosphere encouraged free-flowing expression. DJ Wyllys had attendees closing in on the center of the floor early in the evening, but the energy shifted towards the stage when electronic experimentalists Materialized came on, complete with hefty basslines to maintain the liveliness. Finally, Rubblebucket’s subsequent spell over the audience had people equally as mesmerized when singer Kalmia Traver took command of the sax as when she was dancing amidst the crowd itself.
