FROM THE NEWS NEST: Owl Octave

December 15. 2011 | By Sean Morris

From the multitude of applications created at Music Hack Day London 2011, here’s something right up our owl-ley (let that be the last bad pun of this article). Owl Octave is a web keyboard comprised entirely of hoots from thirteen different types of Daniel Dreiberg’s power animal. Click on any given “note” in the “scale” and you will discover the corresponding owl’s name and region where they can be found. Some of the sounds aren’t as pronounced (C) or as pleasant (G) as others, but that probably won’t stop Adam Young or any other bedroom producers with ornithological inclinations. Happy sampling!
