PICTURE THIS: Zion I and the Grouch @ The Phoenix in Petaluma 3/22

March 24. 2011 | By David Korman

East Bay hip hop artist collaborators Zion I and the Grouch performed fantastically at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma on March 22nd. The duo was backed by a live band and several singers including Silk-E of The Coup. They played to a crowd of around 400 excited suburban and rural Sonoma County teenagers. The Phoenix was the fourth stop on the group’s Healing of the Nation Tour, promoting their new album Heroes In The Healing Of The Nation which began 3/19 at the Fillmore in SF. The duo carries a rich air of humility and graciousness that they bestowed upon their fans while performing; for over an hour after the show, both performers chatted with fans, posed for photos, and signed merch.
