Going to see a Casket Girls show is an exercise in embracing the incongruities of dream pop music off set by the band’s at-times creepy lyrics. There was an intrinsically voyeuristic quality of the show where the sunglasses sporting sisters Phaedra and Elsa Greene performed on stage in negligées with hidden eyes. But the question became, who was watching who through hidden eyes? The show was creepy, unsettling, yet wonderfully weird. It turned out that the show was also an incredible place to pickup some custom art for art aficionados. Phaedra and Elsa simultaneously drew portraits of each other during one song and gave them to two lucky audience members. The Casket Girls are something truly San Franciscan and something that the city is meant to embrace in all their weirdness. We absolutely adored them.
