PICTURE THIS: Strange Talk @ Echo, LA 10/12/12

Hailing from half a world away, Australia’s Strange Talk impressed us with an energetic show Friday night at the Echo. The band really succeeded in getting the crowd moving. In fact, we witnessed several instances of random people grabbing each other and dancing together like nobody was watching. Melding a new wave sensibility and modern day influences (think Phoenix, Miami Horror), Strange Talk’s sound is interesting, fresh, and relevant. To make things even better, their sound translates really well to a live setting – especially synth heavy songs. We found ourselves especially digging their new single “Cast Away.” We feel lucky to have caught Strange Talk at such a small venue because we know there are big things in their future.
