Dragons, parrots, swimming holes – all things you might associate more with children’s stories than with an indie band. Yet, Michigan-based trio Breathe Owl Breathe manage to effortlessly weave these and other whimsical tales into airy, folky tunes.

For their performance at The Echo, frontman Micah Middaugh, drummer Trevor Hobbs, and multi-instrumentalist Andréa Moreno-Beals brought to life the quirky characters in their songs, including the audience-interactive pleaser, “Dragon.”
