Tell Me
[Other Hand]

The first day of summer has come and gone. If you’re looking for the perfect music to cruise down PCH to, add the Allah-Las’ EP, Tell Me, to your playlist. The Los Angeles-based quartet is effortlessly riding the current wave of the garage rock revival sound. You can close your eyes and hear echoes of the surf, Dick Dale and The Beach Boys through the tracks “Sacred Sands” and “Catamaran,” the latter being the strongest song on the EP.

Overall, the Allah-Las have the look and feel down perfectly–scruffed boys, worn gear, and gravelly vocals a la Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs’ “Wooly Bully.”  It’s a light and fun sound, not ground-breaking, but then they don’t come off as a band who wants to astound you with their technique or lyrics. They’re more about making sure that feel-good summer vibe has a permanent place in your soul.
