NOISE POP 2013: Ramona Falls + Social Studies @ Brick & Mortar, SF 2/27/13

March 01. 2013 | By Amber Gregory

Portland’s Ramona Falls and SF’s Social Studies have been on tour together for the last month, and it’s easy to see why — each brings to the stage a unique, genre-bending version of indie rock. Social Studies played to a packed house of loyal fans, many of whom knew every lyric and cried out “I love you!” to vocalist Natalia Rogovin. By the time Ramona Falls  took the stage, the crowd had thinned, but this just made the hour-long set by Brent Knopf (formerly of Menomena) and co. even more intimate. Ramona Falls is a great live band, and the final song of the set, “Spore” was otherworldly, goosebump-inducing, the perfect way to end a night of inspired music.
