PICTURE THIS: Emily Wells + Portland Cello Project @ Swedish American Hall, SF 5/17/12

Emily Wells and Portland Cello Project filled the Swedish American Hall in San Francisco with an eclectic mix of music.

Portland Cello Project started off the night with a interesting mix of Bach, Jay-Z/Kanye West, jazz, original music, and even the theme to Mission Impossible — all reworked to fit with their instrumentation of cello, flute, french horn, and drums.

Emily Wells started out by herself on stage. Emily played guitar, ukulele, violin — sampling the instruments and her voice looping them together to create a depth behind her singing. Towards the end of Emily’s set Portland Cello Project joined her on stage. Emily certainly has an enthusiastic following in San Francisco encouraging her to a second encore; she finished off the night to roaring applause with her song “San Francisco.”
