HEAR THIS: Agent Ribbons

November 12. 2012 | By Claire Wohlers

Agent Ribbons is reminiscent of another time. With their first two records, this girl duo brought us back to Paris in the ’20s capturing a simple, ultra-feminine sound. Sacramento, CA natives Lauren Hess and Natalie Gordon showed that they’ve nailed the dreamy, minimal, old-timey sound. However, many of their songs used to sound similar. This time, they’re back with their most recent album, Let Them Talk, and to put it plainly, it stands out. While darker than most of their body of work, it’s also more diverse, theatrical, and dynamic with more interesting melodies and more vocal harmonies. However, we’re happy to see that what remains the same is Agent Ribbons’ thoughtful, witty lyrics; it’s something we always appreciate!

If you’re looking for a theatrical flare in your music, check them out!
