TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 4/25/19 Edition

April 28. 2019 | By Wayne Jessup

This week’s foray kicks off strong with two brand new releases. Kyoto, Japan’s Otoboke Beaver is back with Itekoma Hits, out now on Damnably. Precision chaos is their mantra, as evidenced on lead cut “Datsu. Hikage no onna”. Paws, (from Glasgow, Scotland), return with their first LP in three years, Your Church On My Bonfire (Ernest Jenning Record Company). “Not Enough” shows the band moving forward sonically.

Philadelphia’s Mannequin Pussy have moved to Epitaph Records for their forthcoming release Patience (out 6/21). The band embraces a more expansive form on the vulnerable epic “Drunk II”. Fresh from making a splash at SXSW, Sydney, Australia’s Body Type unleash “Stingray”, showcasing tight harmonies alongside gritty guitar goodness. Their newest, EP2, is due out 5/3 on Partisan (over here) and Inertia (Australia). Finishing off with a blast from NYC’s Jeanines, “Either Way” is short and sweet and jangly as hell. Their self-titled debut will appear 6/14 on Slumberland Records.
