Criminal Hygiene @ The Echo, LA 1/13/14

Every once in awhile a band comes along that is just goddamn fun to be around. Last year at Echo Parking Rising, we discovered our most recent favorite in this category – Criminal Hygiene. The Los Angeles garage punk trio are like your cousins that come around during family barbeques, sneaking you beers, and showing you what it’s really like to have a good time. On and off stage the boys (Michael Fiore on guitar/vocals, Michael Hiller on bass/vocals, and Sean Erickson on drums) make it clear that it’s all about doing something you love because you love it, and fuck the rest for telling you otherwise.

The Criminal Hygiene LP is like a journey through a young band’s mind, as they try on different sounds to see what sticks. The group’s recently released Withdrawn EP features three new tracks (“Withdrawn,” “Sold in the City,” and “Bye Bye”) that show a more focused side, but keeping within that do-what’s-fun ethos.

Beginning March 20th, Criminal Hygiene will support The Orwells on several dates along the West Coast.

20 March – The Observatory – Santa Ana, CA
21 March – Che Cafe – San Diego, CA
22 March – Troubadour – Los Angeles, CA
23 March – Slim’s – San Francisco, CA
25 March – Neumos – Seattle, WA
26 March – Star Theater – Portland, OR
