Hether Fortune doesn’t stand still, taking her business back to Oakland, emphasizing writing and painting as part of her expanding skillset, along with a new fun hat called Label Boss. Etruscan Gold is the name, and her latest creation is Wax Idols‘ new LP Happy Ending, the long awaited followup to 2015’s American Tragic.

Since its premiere, we at The Nest have been dialed into first single “Scream,” and each subsequent peek at Happy Ending unveils more levels. Peep the uber-catchy “Mausoleum” video, a Hard Days Night gone Goth collaboration with Dalton Thompson (Highly Functional), for a glance at the heavily under appreciated side of the band. Jocularity aside, Wax Idols is as dark as ever, balancing Fortune’s unique worldview with soaring performances. “Crashing” is your new morning after anthem, and “Too Late” conjures up guitar clouds worthy of My Bloody Valentine.

Happy Ending will be available on all platforms on Wednesday May 16th. Better yet, you can get your hands on a *gasp!* physical copy during the Wax Idols ~Chill~ Release Party at Oakland’s mighty 1-2-3-4 Go! Records who, as fate would have it, are in the midst of celebrating their 10th anniversary. The release/listening party is free and all ages, with DJ’s Rachel and Corey spinning and, if the stars align, perhaps an acoustic set by the band…
