PREVIEW: Mære @ The Viper Room, LA 2/29

February 28. 2012 | By David Korman

LA, you are in for a treat! Listening to Mære is a full-fledged experience. Their performance is loud and you will walk away from this show with your insides vibrating; it’s exhilarating. Vocalist Daniel Crook is a brilliant lyricist whose intricate phrases express deep emotion and intense vulnerability. There is an immense strength born of the partnership between these fellows’ distinct emotional intuition and their masterful musicianship. Mære is raw and upfront, writing music that challenges their audience to feel. It takes great strength to allow oneself to feel any one pure emotion. This music implores you to walk away empowered with personal expression. Mære aspires to be the architect of a sound structure that builds a bridge to your heart.

The band is made up of the aforementioned Crook on vocals and synth, Enrique Escareno on guitar, bassist Vince Gutierrez, Drew Wright on all things electronic, and percussionist John Carlos Knox. Their influences include David Bazan, Efterklang, Sun Lux, and Radiohead. Mære released their debut 6-track EP entitled The Architect in August 2011 ad then in November 2011, Mære released an epic music video produced by Fillament Features. They’ll be playing the Viper Room in Los Angeles at 11:15 PM on Wednesday, February 29.

The Codega Presents show also includes The Lebarons, Alex Arndt and The Sonic Universe, Red Circle Underground, and Arune and The Alternatives.
