PREVIEW: Aussie BBQ @ The Echo, Los Angels 3/11/12

March 09. 2012 | By Catriona Noble

The Aussie ceremony is that of a gathering of food and lots of drinks. The central meeting place of our tribes, where we all experience our most joyous memories and endure a variety of social quirks all the while socializing around the grill: prawns, steak, fish, and snags a'cookin'. The 4th annual Aussie BBQ 2012 in Los Angeles this Sunday, March 11th at The Echo will feature 11 Australian bands playing across two stages. The Aussie BBQ is the essence of our Australian culture! Prepare for a very mixed assortment of diverse Australian talent, catering to all appetites.

Emma Louise is my gorgeous tip of the day!

Chet Faker: an Aussie style of Moby but a more rugged-looking version, with the sweet vocals and chill-session-style dance mood. I would put money on this gig being a surprisingly enchanting-mood journey.

You can’t miss t

he hip-hop funky soul of Lowrider. Definitively on the rhythm and beat–will be a high energy international flair.

DZ Deathrays punk attack has a very clever take on it all. They just may have a purpose–hard to know. Step outside the square and lose yourself in some thoughtful reckless attitude.

And finally, the very essence of the Australian salts lie right here… Busby Marou, portrays sounds of the Aussie style and lifestyle.

Come and play with the Aussies at The Echo in Los Angeles this Sunday! We'll be giving away tickets on Twitter this weekend! Be sure to follow us for the chance to win! @theowlmag
