DITTIES FROM DOWN UNDER: Skipping Girl Vinegar

August 08. 2012 | By Rebecca McCann

Skipping Girl Vinegar are an outfit from Melbourne whose acoustic heavy indie-folk is unusual in a sea of electronic, synth-laden pop. Among others, SGV have supported Missy Higgins and Angus & Julia Stone in their home country of Australia, and have built a reputation that precedes them.

The kooky album title Keep Calm, Carry The Monkey is matched by their off-kilter web design and fresh, organic sound. “Chase The Sun” showcases SGV’s upbeat, fuzzed-out, alt-folk, and the video features a monkey in space. Yes, really. That alone makes this band worth checking out.
