HEAR THIS: Truman & His Trophy

April 27. 2012 | By April

It may be the very mention of pizza, but Chicago rockers Truman & His Trophy‘s latest offering, Bottom George Pizza Planet reminds me of our beloved record store Rasputin in the best of ways. You know, the SF one where the elevator reeks of Blondie’s pizza and constantly bumps the best obscure jams.

The band mixes rambling lyrics with solipsistic songs and garage guitar, like if Beck recorded Stereopathic Soulmanure in a skate shop. Though this is their second album, it’s a far cry from their debut Springinsguth. Expect great things from this constantly-evolving band and check them out all over the Midwest this July as they set off with Billings, MT band MegaGiant.
