TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 1/28/2021 Edition

January 28. 2021 | By Wayne Jessup

This time out, Tracks focuses on turning the volume up to eleven and blowing out the cobwebs, kicking off with the solo debut of Lande Hekt (Muncie Girls). “Whiskey” is from the Exeter, UK based artist’s full-length LP Going To Hell, out last week on Get Better Records, following up 2019’s much loved Gigantic Disappointment EP.

Up next, it’s Pittsburgh’s Calyx with “Leslie Plain and Strong”. Their new LP Stay Gone comes out 2/12 as a joint release effort by Plastic Miracles, Ethnospine Records, Chumpire Records, and Salinas Records.

From the Pioneer Valley in Western Mass., Editrix (Wendy Eisenberg) keeps the good noise coming with “Tell Me I’m Bad”, the title track from their forthcoming LP, out next week on Exploding In Sound Records.

Finishing off this week, it’s “Plants” from Carrboro, N.C. supergroup Speed Stick, a unit that somehow manages to transcend even its impressive list of parts.Comprised of Ash Bowie (Polvo), Charles Chace (The Paul Swest), Laura King (Bat Fangs), and Thomas Simpson (The Love Language), their LP Volume 1 came out last week on Don Giovanni.
