San Francisco’s storied Warfield played host to a relaxed night of jazz-pop, rock, and traditional music for an audience who didn’t let their mild-mannered etiquette prevent them from having a great time. Equally as mild-mannered were Leftover Cuties from Venice, CA who came up north for a one-off show as the support.

The night’s main draw, Honolulu’s Jake Shimabukro, is working to change the perception of the ukulele as being a voice strictly for traditional music. Jake showcased songs of pop, surf, traditional Hawaiian, and all the way up to rock, including covers from Queen and Journey. His personable approach shone through in the way he engaged the audience with stories from his childhood and jokes between his instrumental pieces.
