LIVE REVIEW: Ensemble Mik Nawooj + Kendra McKinley + Owl Paws + The Oakland Mind @ Sofar Sounds Secret Show, SF 5/19/14
We’re pretty sure just about everyone loves a secret show. So when the time came for Sofar Sounds to host their next San Francisco date, we couldn’t help but want to be part of the audience.
The History: Sofar Sounds started in 2009 in a London living room with a group of friends and has expanded into a global movement. It brings a community of music lovers together to experience and appreciate amazing artists that span across the genre board. Just to show how much of an impact Sofar Sounds has had on a music community, as of today there is least one show happening every day of the week somewhere in the world.
The Space: An amazing living room/creative space on Florida St. known as Lightside (with a really cool Statue of Liberty sculpture). Each new month means a new, unique living room venue.
The Talent: Ensemble Mik Nawooj, Kendra McKinley, Owl Paws, and The Oakland Mind. Each local group had their own unique sound that kept the audience engaged and wanting more than just the 20 minute set each group had.
So if you’re a local music lover like we are, then make sure to RSVP on Sofar’s website for your chance to be part of the next living room secret show. Oh yeah, did we mention it’s BYOB?
