LIVE REVIEW: Coachella 2014, Weekend 2, Friday
Grey clouds loomed among the mountains Friday night at weekend two of 2014’s Coachella Music & Arts Festival. Yet even without the first day including its iconic sunset beyond the ferris wheel, the weekend couldn’t have started off on a better foot. The overall lineup for this year’s fest features a sizable count of female-fronted acts, but Friday was the biggest showcase with acts like Haim, Dum Dum Girls, MS MR, and Wye Oak. We were also lucky enough to get our dance game on with Chromeo and Ellie Goulding, wax nostalgic with The Replacements (featuring surprise guest Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day), and get our own fix of guest artists with Girl Talk. We couldn’t help but notice the immense improvements in headliner OutKast’s set from their first weekend hiccups, taking their criticisms and tweaking their performance for a smooth show.
