London Grammar
If You Wait
[Warner/Chappell]

The trio of Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman and Dot Major that comprises London Grammar have fulfilled the promise of their well-received Metal & Dust EP from earlier this year, with the release of their debut, If You Wait. The early buzz around the band isn’t just buzz. If You Wait is a captivating debut album filled with beautifully clear, unmarred tunes that demand attention.

“Hey Now,” the first single off the album and incidentally the first track, is the perfect introduction to the trio’s style. Simple, ethereal, and anchored by angelic vocals. Stand out tracks include; “Wasting My Young Years,” “Strong,” “Metal & Dust,” “If You Wait,” and the cover of Kavinsky’s “Nightcall.” London Grammar has been compared to fellow Brits The xx and Hannah Reid’s voice to that of Florence Welch’s. Praise of the highest order indeed. And well-deserved at that.
