HEAR THIS: Black City Lights

May 24. 2012 | By Jon Allmond

The recent comeback of ’80s new wave in music has been one thing that has certainly made us happy to hear. There are a wide array of bands infusing the style into their own individual sound and New Zealand duo Black City Lights are one of those groups to deliver.

It’s evident from Julia Catherine Parr’s beautiful, alluring vocals and producer Callum Robb’s haunting electronic sounds that the two were meant to create music together. While merging that new wave atmosphere, Black City Lights also makes sure to get their listeners up and dancing as well. Though their Parallels EP dropped back in March, it has the power to keep up with releases all throughout this year. Listen to the track “Rivers” below and you’ll understand exactly what we mean.
