HEAR THIS: The Wave Pictures

A lot of music these days lacks playful, random acts of storytelling. UK band, The Wave Pictures, have been writing their book since the late ’90s. Now a new chapter with Long Black Cars; and, their rustic, garage-band (albeit technically solid) instrumentation is matched perfectly by the raw and dramatic delivery of David Tattersall—who clearly channels David Byrne and Jonathan Richman. I’m particularly smitten with the Mark Knopfler-esque guitar licks on “Stay Here & Take Care of The Chickens.”
