To celebrate the re-opening of California, this edition of Hear This comes to you in a double-shot Afterschool Special form. Today’s topic is: ‘Hostile Work Environments’, brought to you by an inimitable pair of LA bands, Egg Drop Soup and Broken Baby.

You might remember Egg Drop Soup from their previous single “Swamp Ass”, a total Nest favorite. If anything, they’ve done the opposite of sanding down those rough edges, channeling the frustration of job loss into learning new skills and creating an epic video for “Or Durves”. The trio, Samantha Westervelt, Olivia Saperstein, and Bailey Chapman, took on the challenge, immersing themselves in everything from production to puppetry to make their masterpiece.

Broken Baby takes an equally ass-kicking point of view on their new single “Madonna’s A Dick”, with the band taking full aim at the ingrained sexism of their chosen industries. The duo, Amber Bollinger and Alex Dezen, leave nothing unscathed on the Bollinger-directed video. Both tracks can be found on an upcoming split single, pre-orderable now, or out 6/25 on Poor Man Records. The bands will be combining their superpowers for an actual real life gig. You can catch Egg Drop Soup and Broken Baby along with MoonFuzz at El Cid in LA on 6/30, with tickets available through Dice.FM.
