COUNTDOWN: 17 Days to Outside Lands – Father John Misty

July 24. 2012 | By Gina Cargas

It takes some serious guts to leave a band like Fleet Foxes. But when ex-drummer, Joshua Tillman, left the band, he simply traded one storm of adoring fans and critical acclaim for another. Recording under the moniker Father John Misty, Tillman enchanted the world of indie rock with Fear Fun, a brilliant and philosophical album. Some tracks sprawl into Grizzly Bear-like soundscapes, while others languish in bleak, countrified Waylon Jennings territory. Self-aware and understated, Father John Misty’s pastoral brand of indie folk is sure to captivate the masses at Golden Gate Park.
