TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 10/24/19 Edition

Kicking off this week’s action is new Nest favorite Poolblood. Toronto’s Maryam Said has unleashed debut EP Yummy, with “Dreamer” being our featured cut. The EP is out 11/8 on Shamir’s Accidental Popstar Records. Minimal Compact, 80’s post-punk wonders from Amsterdam, reconvene with Wire’s Colin Newman to reinvigorate their legacy on new LP Creation Is Perfect, out 10/25, featuring re-recorded takes of their standards, including this updated version of “Statik Dancin”.

“Animal Kingdom” is a taste of Chicago noise rock duo Djunah. Their debut Ex Voto is out 11/1 on Milwaukee’s Triple Eye Industries. Nêhiyawak come to us from Edmonton, Alberta; “ôtênaw” is from their brand new LP niply, out now on Arts & Crafts. The icing on the cake this week comes via Maryland, with cellist Gordon Withers unveiling the latest addition to his catalogue of punk interpretations. “Bivouac” is our first glimpse of the forthcoming Jawbreaker On Cello, out 11/1 on Tampa, Fl. based New Granada Records. These takes will also be familiar if you’ve had the good fortune to catch the new Jawbreaker documentary Don’t Break Down.
