HEAR THIS: Pageants

Long Beach, CA seems to have that special something flowing through the water. The city has been the breeding ground for up and coming indie rock bands for years. Having produced such acts as Cold War Kids, Avi Buffalo, Crystal Antlers, and more. Pageants can now be added to the list. Pageants is the product of Rebecca Coleman and Devin O’Brien, who both have embraced the culture Long Beach and have learned to express this through their music. The two have created music centered in the sounds of So Cal, add in Coleman’s signature crooning and you have a very warming and heartfelt sound. Originally the duo used a drum machine when playing live, but now with added drummer Dylan Wood, the band has a more complete sound.

Pageants recently played a slew of shows in the LA area, including Make Music Pasadena this past June as well as Echo Park Rising just last month. Next they will join artists from all over the world as part of Filter Magazine’s third annual Culture Collide festival. Go ahead and take a listen to your new favorite band.
