Always danceable, always singable and always rockable, Los Angeles quintet, Y Luv, have done pretty well at not tripping over that fine line where you should just stop pretending to be a “rock” band because all you ever hear is synthesized/electro noise over the drums. Here’s hoping they stay that course and on “Driftin,” after a surprisingly languid (and pretty) piano intro, some healthy guitar wails accompany the track’s sonic spaciousness and Freddy Janney’s vocal gravel. Tempering the synthy-ness of it all is a good thing. Drift on, boys.
