Vocalist Julie Hardy and producer Mike MacAllister ended up working together on a commercial project, and as they say, the rest is history. On their debut EP the NYC based duo mesh pristine vocals with electro synth beats that suck you in and have you dancing around the kitchen.

The EP opens with “Robot,” an upbeat lament about mechanically going through the

motions in a relationship. “Bottom Line” is, literally, a hand clapping accompanied complaint about a potential lover and his games.”Complication” is a sexy taunt crooned out to a thrumming electronic beat. “How Can I Not Love You?” is the quiet gem, set sneakily in to show off just how perfectly Julie”s vocals and Mike”s guitar go together before any synth appears. This is the song that shows why Julie is a teacher of vocal jazz at The New School in New York City. Fans will draw comparisons to Ellie Goulding (indeed, Julie has performed live with

her), St. Vincent, and Florence The Machine (of whom Julie lists as an influence). These are all accurate, and yet they don”t quite capture just what it is that has us listening to this EP over and over again, wishing it weren”t such a scant six songs.
