TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 7/28/2022 Edition

July 28. 2022 | By Wayne Jessup

Fittingly, we’ll open up this edition of Tracks of the Week with East LA rockers The Tracks. The four year wait is finally over for their second LP Paredón Blanco, and the driving “Your Bike” is our cut of choice. Don’t miss their release party at La Zona Rosa in Boyle Heights on 7/29. “The Extra Sees The Film” is the new single from Toronto’s Kiwi Jr, immediately putting to rest any worry that their twisted sensibilities may have diminished. Their new LP Chopper releases 8/12 on Sub Pop, and finds them broadening their sonic palette by joining forces with producer Dan Boeckner (Wolf ParadeHandsome Furs).

Formed in the Catskills in upstate NY revolving around the songs of Emily SpragueFlorist have developed into a tight outfit as evidenced on the latest single “Feathers”, from their self-titled LP due out tomorrow on Double Double Whammy. Finishing up this week back home in the Bay Area, Sour Widows return with a new single, “Witness”, that’s as much a journey as a song. It’s out now on Exploding In Sound Records. Catch the band live on 7/29 at Eli’s Mile High Club in Oakland.
