TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 4/2/20 Edition

April 02. 2020 | By Wayne Jessup

This time out on Tracks, we’ll start with the return of the inimitable Nadine Shah. “Ladies For Babies (Goats For Love)” is precisely the head-spinning anthem you’ve been looking for. Her new LP Kitchen Sink is out 6/5 via Infectious Music/BMG. It wouldn’t be a Tracks if we didn’t stop in Australia, and this time the spotlight is on Loose Fit. “Pull The Lever” is from the Sydney quartet’s debut EP, originally a cassette-only release, now brought to vinyl this week by our friends at Fat Cat Records.

It didn’t take us long into their 2019 set at Primavera Sound to fall head over heels for Melenas from Pamplona, Spain. “No puedo pensar” is the latest blast from their new LP Dias Raros, out 5/1 on Trouble In Mind. Grrrl Gang comes to us from Indonesia, with “Dream Girl” offering the first taste of Here To Stay, the Damnably compilation of the trio’s work for Kolibri Rekords. Finishing off back home, LA bedroom pop trio Small Forward readies their debut LP for later this year. The enchanting “Most of You” is our first glance.
