PICTURE THIS: The Wombats @ Fillmore, SF 4/19/13

The Wombats, who (by the way) are from Liverpool and not Australia, may not be the most famous band in Britain right now, but they are quite possibly the

most fun. The talented trio played a career-spanning set to a fervently loyal crowd who knew all (we mean all) the words at San Francisco”s Fillmore last Friday, delighting the audience with their dance moves in addition to music they”d waited years to hear again live. After hearing “Kill the Director,” “Moving to New York,” “Techno Fan,” “1996” and “Jump Into the Fog,” finishing off the night with an encore of “Let”s Dance to Joy Division” almost seemed too good to be true.

The night”s opener was the intriguing, talented quartet The Colourist, who feature great harmonies and were an excellent choice to warm up the crowd.
