TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 11/7/19 Edition

November 07. 2019 | By Wayne Jessup

Kicking off the action this week is the pride of New Brunswick, NJ: steve. “Gansette” is not only New England’s finest beer, but an ass-kicking single as well, and our pick from their new LP You Can Do This Too out this week on I Surrender Records. Next up is “Half Painted House”, courtesy of Memphis belles The Nots, from their most recent Nots 3. In case there’s any question, they are on Goner Records, and they will be here to rip shit up on 11/12 at Zebulon LA, and 11/13 Bottom of the Hill, SF.

If CCR could come from the East Bay, then Half Stack can surely hail from Oakland. Like Bonny Doon, they conjure up an effortless roots vibe that’s just right. “Goner”, from their Aw Hell EP, keeps us choogling. Sarah from Esper Scout has resurfaced as Fig By Four. “Plunge” is the debut single out now on Bomb The Twist. In closing, we’ll just say: new Best Coast! Bethany and Bobb are back, “For The First Time” is their hard-earned wisdom, and keep your eyes peeled for a Spring tour with Mannequin Pussy, including Noise Pop on 2/29.
