TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 10/17/19 Edition

October 17. 2019 | By Wayne Jessup

This week on Tracks, it’s many happy returns. While smack in the middle of the Vivian Girls reunion tour, Ali Koehler gets the other gang back together for a new self-titled Upset LP, due out 11/22 on Lauren Records. Joined by Patty Schemel, Nicole Snyder, and Lauren Freeman, Upset is as ferocious as ever, as evidenced on first single “Tried & True”. Montreal’s Wolf Parade is back in business with a new single, “Against The Day”, and some upcoming European dates.

Bringing it back home, Destroy Boys have found a happy home for their second LP Make Room on 1234Go! Records. “Piedmont” clocks in as a current Nest favorite. One of our favorite recent discoveries is “Better Than Ever” by Emanuela Drei from Milan, Italy, who records under the name Giungla. Winding up this week by dipping our toes into next year, Poliça is back with new track “Driving”, a glimpse at their next LP, When We Stay Alive, out 1/31/20 on Memphis Industries.
