It’s that time of year again folks. Get excited. Unimpressed by the big name festival lineups this year? Not to worry, Noise Pop Festival remains our one true North. The one festival that we hold near and dear to our hearts. This year’s schedule of events boasts an impressive lineup of major and local talent alike and welcomes back the beloved Swedish American Hall which will act as both venue and Noise Pop HQ this year.

In the mood for a little dancing? What better way to kick of this year’s Noise Pop than with a duo of Aussies known as Flight Facilities at Regency Ballroom. Known for their remixing and DJ skills, Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell recently released their debut album titled Down to Earth last October consisting of original material. Tickets are $23 in advance or $25 at the door for this 18+ event that starts at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased here.

If you were lucky enough to snag a ticket to the Best Coast show over at Bottom of the Hill, then count yourself lucky! We heard through the grapevine that tickets flew out the door in less than 30 minutes. We love the female-led bands on this kick-ass line up as Best Coast teams up with San Francisco darlings The She’s and Oakland’s Night School. Though online tickets are sold out, Bottom of the Hill notes on its website that some tickets will be available at the door beginning at 8pm on the night of the show to this all ages event. Not feeling like taking your chances? You can still buy a festival badge to gain entry.

Want to see something that’s going to make you go, “what is going on!? I LIKE IT!!” Then we recommend checking out Los Angeles’ PPL MVR. No, you’re not seeing things, this hard rocking trio quite literally looks like a group of Sasquatches on-stage donning costumes to help them and us, the audience, tap into our wild side. This all ages show starts at 9pm at Bottom of the Hill. Tickets can be purchased here for $12.

Not feeling that adventurous? How about seeing Jessica Pratt over at The Chapel? Originally from San Francisco and now based out of Los Angeles, singer/songwriter Pratt is making waves already in 2015 as the buzz around her album On Your Own Love Again builds all around. She’s definitely an artist to keep an eye and ear out for this year. Check out her show at The Chapel with support from Kevin Morby, Carroll, and Two Sheds. The show starts at 8pm and tickets can be purchased .

Pivoting away from his more well-known hardcore roots, Slumberland’s Tony Molina ventures out on his own with his own version of nostalgic indie pop. His latest effort Dissed and Dismissed is a brief 12 minutes and feels like it ends just as you want more. Catch Tony Molina at Rickshaw Stop for this all ages show which will definitely last longer than 12 minutes. Tickets can be purchased for $12 or at the door for $14.

Friday February 27, 2015

The No Joy bill for Friday might just be the best lineup for the entire festival from top to bottom. The night will be heavy with all kinds of gazing and waving going on – the shoe and dark varieties in particular. Montreal’s No Joy will be joined by Devon Williams and San Francisco’s own Vaniish and Chasms. A number of Owls will be flocking to this show so if you see us, come say hello. The show starts at 9pm and tickets can still be purchased online for $12 for this all ages show at Bottom of the Hill.

Saturday February 28, 2015

As far as hometown darlings are concerned, 2014 was the year of Cathedrals. The San Francisco-based duo opened Sunday’s Treasure Island Music Festival and made a big name for themselves not just in the Bay Area but well beyond. Though both the Friday and Saturday Cathedrals shows are sold out, Noise Pop is giving away of pair of tickets to the show. Just follow this link and enter in your information for a chance to win. Not feeling lucky? A festival badge can also get you into the 21+ show at The Independent on either Friday or Saturday.
