HEAR THIS: Gold-Bears

Atlanta’s Gold-Bears new LP, Dalliance, kicks off with the pell-mell rush of “Yeah Tonight”, before falling into the gutter menace of “Chest”. Proof positive that with their 2nd LP, they aren’t backing off, but cranking things up another notch. While most ascribe the C-86 revolution as the abiding aesthetic of Slumberland Records, the deeper we plow into the label’s catalogue, the more it seems that they’re on the trail of something much harder to pin down: capturing the sound of the moment that you fell in love with music. The wistful fuzz-flecked “Fathers and Daughters” brings it to an emotional close. With their soundtrack to heady nights and hungover mornings, Gold-Bears delivers.
