TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 5/7/20 Edition

May 07. 2020 | By Wayne Jessup

Austin’s Ringo Deathstarr is back with a new s/t LP out on Club AC30. “God Help The Ones You Love” gets us started this week on Tracks. “Headlights” is our pick from Boston’s own Squirrel Flower. The project of Ella O’Connor Williams, her debut LP I Was Born Swimming came out in January on Polyvinyl. Can’t get any more timely than the polished and sinister “Fear My Society”, from The Wants Container LP, a March release on Council Records.

Black Belt Eagle Scout’s At The Party With My Brown Friends was a Nest favorite last fall, and the Saddle Creek release is back on our radar with “I Said I Wouldn’t Write This Song”, brought to life in an animated video expressing concern over the impact of climate change on the Alaska coast and promoting Wet’suwet’en solidarity, Finishing out this time, LA-based Columbian/Japanese rockers Dante and the HellHounds tip their hat to the east LA punk scene in “Florence and Normandie”, named after the intersection where the ’92 riots kicked off.
