If you’re looking for something to float away to, look no further than Blonds, a dream-pop duo whose airy tunes will transport you straight to the breezy Florida coast. This dynamic duo creates music with a dry beauty and electronica reminiscent of Karen O and the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. Their debut EP Dark Roots features solid vocals from lead singer Cari Rae and background music contributed by her beau, Jordy Asher.

Dark Roots is a mixture of electronic melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and an antiquity evocative of simpler times. The cover art, a shadowy sketch of naked Barbie dolls, perfectly encompasses this band’s twist on dream pop: beauty with an edge. These two lovers are entering the well-visited realm of couples making sweet, sweet music.
