HEAR THIS: 1,2,3

You know the story of the Phoenix, right? Big bird, burns up and down only to have a fresh, new baby bird rise from its ashes. That brings us to Nick Snyder and Josh Sickels, the Pittsburgh duo 1,2,3 who, formerly of defunct The Takeover UK, have found a new sense of musical duty. From their recently released debut album, New Heaven, comes the grinder of a track “Work” and there’s much to dig into about this song. From Snyder’s tough, tender, and urgent falsetto to the chug of the chain gang beat to the guitar/synth texture on repeat (reminds me of Death Cab For Cutie), “Work” could be that “Here we are, (bitches, optional)!” ice-breaking intro every band needs.
