Teen angst is not a new concept and has been explored in music and movies many times over. What makes Caves different is that they’re not exploring teen angst, they are teen angst. Musicians in their late teens, they’ve capitalized on their persistent moods, translating it into serious and beautiful landscapes of dream pop.

Birmingham has been churning out a plethora of talented acts as of late and true to their teen angst form, Caves has been known to credit the “fact” that life in Birmingham sucks and good music comes from bad places with the reason for their talent. While that may be up for debate, we can’t help but to hope these kids never cheer up so that we may selfishly continue to enjoy the depth they are able to access at this point in their lives.
