TRACKS OF THE WEEK – 10/3/19 Edition

October 03. 2019 | By Wayne Jessup

This week on Tracks, it all kicks off with Brooklyn-based Arthur Moon’s “Reverse Conversion Therapy”. The brainchild of Lora-Faye Åshuvud, check out their self-titled debut LP, and keep an eye out for upcoming West Coast shows, including the Independent, SF 10/23, and the Bootleg Theater, LA 10/24.

Mermaidens hail from Wellington, NZ, and of course it’s the mighty Flying Nun that provides a home for their full-length,  Look Me In The Eye. “Millennia” is our track of choice. No matter how we spin the globe, sooner or later it always comes up Philly. “Only Obvious To You” is the current Nest anthem, from Queen of Jeans new LP If you’re not afraid, I’m not afraid, out now on Topshelf Records.

One of our favorite local blasts this year has been The Y Axes No Waves. “Moon” is the latest single, and they’ll be holding down the Independent on 10/26. Finishing up with London’s Girl Ray, “Show Me More” is our first look at their new LP Girl, out 11/8 on Moshi Moshi.
