YOU GOTTA SEE THIS: “Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)” by Silversun Pickups

June 01. 2012 | By Mayumi Okamoto

Silversun Pickups tap into the creative mind of director James Frost for the “Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)” video, the first single off of this year’s album Neck of the Woods. Frost previously directed the video for Swoon‘s “Panic Switch” back in 2009. Silversun Pickups and Frost clearly have a strong creative relationship based on mutual respect for each other’s craft to the point where the band entrusts the video’s abstract concept entirely to Frost. During the video’s filming in Los Angeles, singer Brian Aubert joked, “If James wants to do something, we pretty much do it. In fact, our band was created by James Frost just so he could do stuff. He’s the boss.” The video is equally divided into band performance sequences and flashes of a mysterious story line involving a running damsel and a mirrored box. Frost is a master light manipulator and Silversun Pickups are master mood creators. Together, they make the video for “Bloody Mary (Nerve Endings)” a satisfying experience for your senses.
